"I was consulted, a while ago, on whether a clock that counted down the estimated carbon budget for 1.5°C would be a good idea.

I asked them what they planned to do when it went past zero?

I did not get an answer, and they didn’t ask me anything again. 🤷"

Thanks Andy. It is a good point. Just think of what this annual report will find next year, with another 42 billion tons gone and a presumably negative carbon budget (meaning it is depleted) for some probabilities. On the other hand, the budget for 2C, rather than 1.5C, is still well away from being depleted. It is around 25 years away at current emissions for the central estimate (50 percent probability).
